Our Mission

[Print-friendly version]

The Law and Justice Research Centre (LJRC) was established in 2006 as the focal point for all research and higher degree study being conducted by the QUT Faculty of Law.

The QUT Faculty of Law has a well-developed research profile with our large team of experts researching a wide range of legal and justice issues. Within these areas of specialisation, staff are able to supervise research undertaken for both postgraduate coursework programs and higher degrees by research. Research activity is reflected in our externally funded and competitive research projects and our extensive publication output in the form of books, chapters in books, refereed journal articles and publications in professional journals.

Our growing success in obtaining competitive research grants demonstrates the quality, impact and relevance of research undertaken.

The LJRC supports focussed areas of research strength and potential, by way of the seven research programs housed within the Centre. The programs facilitate collaboration and engagement of researchers both internal and external to the Faculty and provide an avenue for development of staff and higher degree student research experience.

The LJRC has recently become affiliated with the Institute for Ethics, Governance and Law (IEGL), a joint initiative of the United Nations University (UNU), Griffith University and QUT in association with ANU .  IEGL’s mission is to build on the strengths of the participating centres to make an internationally significant contribution to research, teaching, consultancy and capacity building in the areas of institutional and community governance.
