A conference providing HDR students the opportunity to present their research-in-progress in a collegial atmosphere
23 November 2007Queensland University of Technology The Crime, Law and Society Postgraduate Research Conference will be hosted by the School of Justice, Faculty of Law, Queensland University of Technology on November 23rd 2007. It aims to provide Higher Degree Research students in the areas of criminology, criminal justice, socio-legal studies and related fields the opportunity to present their research, to network with peers, and contribute to their own professional development. This conference is open to all Higher Degree Research students at any stage of their research projects. By presenting in a collegial atmosphere before an audience of peers and academics, delegates will gain experience in communicating the results of research projects to others, while also receiving constructive feedback on that research. Delegates that present full papers will also have the chance to submit their paper for review and subsequent publication in a collection of refereed conference proceedings with an independent editorial board. The conference will also provide delegates the occasion to learn from Early Career Researchers about the successful completion of higher degree research, the submission and marking process, options regarding the publication and dissemination of research findings, as well as further career development and practical steps to achieving professional goals. Learning from the experience of those who have recently completed higher degree research is a valuable opportunity for current students. The interdisciplinary nature of this conference, its supportive and interactive approach, the prospect of professional development, and the guidance that delegates will receive make this a unique and beneficial experience for higher degree research students at all stages of their research.
