Health Law |

|
Health is a global concern with an endless variety of issues related to it; this is only going to increase with the development of new technologies. These are issues not restricted by legal boundaries. The Health Law program is well placed with its mix of researchers and their networks around the world to respond and be involved with health and legal debates on a national and international level. The research being conducted under this Program is significant because the areas of law being considered are of high social and legal impact. The Program conducts cutting-edge research on important issues concerning law and health. Due to ongoing legal developments and social debates, and because of the continuing economic, social and legal significance of the area the research conducted remains highly relevant. The Program’s research into the areas of child abuse, elder abuse, law at the end of life, stem cell research, ethical issues and negligence all provide examples of it’s responsiveness to significant health and community issues such as population ageing, increasing prevalence of chronic diseases and greater servicing of healthcare needs as well as health promotion and improved treatment and health care management. Members of the Program are developed researchers and have extensive competitive track records. Members are currently involved in cross-disciplinary research and external competitive grants with other researchers, both from within and beyond QUT, and from industry, government, statutory bodies, and legal and health-related professions. Members have established and maintain networks with researchers in the field both nationally and internationally.
